Collision, a woman pedestrian struck and tram services blocked: serious accident on Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue

A serious traffic accident occurred on Monday, October 19, 2026, on Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue in Mykolaiv. A Volkswagen Transporter minibus and a Hyundai Santa Fe crossover collided. A woman pedestrian was injured in the crash, and tram services in both directions were blocked. This was reported by a correspondent for Novosti-N at the scene.

According to preliminary information, the Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling along Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue from Pivdenna Street toward Kosmonavtiv Street. At the intersection, its driver began turning left onto Teatralna Street, failing to yield to the oncoming Volkswagen Transporter, which was traveling straight.

At the last moment, the Volkswagen driver tried to avoid the collision and sharply swerved to the right. However, the minibus still sideswiped the Hyundai. The Volkswagen then continued moving, mounted the sidewalk, hit a woman pedestrian, and came to a stop right on the tram tracks. The woman was injured in the crash. An ambulance crew took her to the hospital. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.

The accident blocked tram services in both directions on several routes. According to a Novosti-N correspondent, at the time this report was being prepared, the trams had been unable to resume service for over an hour. A total of six trams were stopped on the tracks.

In addition to the damaged vehicles and the injured pedestrian, the accident caused delays to public transport. According to the publication, the driver responsible for the crash will be charged 1,800 hryvnias for every hour each tram is out of service. If all six trams are charged at this rate, the total will amount to 10,800 hryvnias per hour.
