Drones destroy Russian Smerch that shelled Mykolaiv and Kherson regions
The transporter-loader vehicle was destroyed along with the launcher
The Russian system used to shell civilians in Mykolaiv Oblast and Kherson Oblast was destroyed by fighters from the National Guard of Ukraine’s Lasar’s Group Special Operations Detachment. During an operation carried out in recent days in Kherson Oblast, they struck a BM-30 Smerch launcher and its transporter-loader vehicle. Both targets were destroyed.
The strike teams used bomber drones to carry out a series of precision strikes. The unit conducted every stage of the operation on its own, operating a considerable distance from the front line.
The strike was preceded by reconnaissance: the troops first studied Russian artillery activity and identified a likely area where the multiple rocket launcher might be hiding. Aerial reconnaissance crews then continued the search. They found the system approximately 60 kilometers from the line of contact.
The previous day, Russian forces had also shelled Mykolaiv Oblast with multiple rocket launchers. The shelling damaged the following in Ochakiv:
- a lyceum’s academic building;
- 2 dormitories;
- 2 private houses.
