The swimming championship in Mykolaiv opened with a swim alongside defenders

In Mykolaiv, an open city swimming championship was held dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. About 100 young residents of Mykolaiv aged from 7 to 16 years gathered for the competition. The tournament was organized by the city authorities, and its program was planned for 2 days.

The championship began with an open swim involving Ukrainian defenders. This way the young athletes started the competition together with those who defend Ukraine and thanks to whom children can continue their sports activities, education, and development.

The program was divided by distances:

• On the first day, participants raced 50 meters in various strokes. There was also a mixed 4×50 meter relay.
• On the second day, swimmers competed in 100 meters in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

Each participant had the opportunity to start in 2 individual events and also take part in a relay. The combination of individual and team starts gave the young swimmers a chance to compete for personal results and feel the team spirit of the competition.
