The Rada is being asked to end the pause to secure more than UAH 4 billion in international financing
The government wants to make October 12 an additional session day
The Cabinet of Ministers is asking to make Monday, October 12, a session day of the Verkhovna Rada, so that deputies have time to pass the laws necessary for Ukraine to receive over 4 billion hryvnias in international financing. This was said by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky, reports «Ekonomichna Pravda». According to epravda.com.ua.
The government’s appeal came amid an almost month-long break that parliament took from plenary sessions. For the funds to arrive, not only voting matters: the necessary laws must also be signed on time.
On its part, the Cabinet plans to adopt the decrees and decisions foreseen by commitments to international partners by October 15. Fulfilling this part of the agreements will allow part of the financing to be received. The remainder of the funds depends on decisions by parliament.
Serhiy Koretsky explained why deputies were already given separate deadlines for each necessary bill:
“Budget expenditures are tied to specific deadlines: salaries need to be paid monthly, and accordingly revenues must arrive on time. We gave the deputies specific deadlines. For each required decision there is a date by which the law must be voted on and signed so that we have time to receive the necessary funds. Our partners have their own procedures for approving and allocating funds, and they need time. For Ukraine there is very little time now.”
