September 25 combined in the history of Mykolaiv shipbuilding, wartime events and long-awaited changes for the Korabelnyi District. On this day in 1895 a society was founded from which the “Naval” plant grew, in 2022 a Russian missile exploded near an apartment building in Korabelnyi, and in 2024 the city finally approved a trolleybus route to the district.
September 25, 1895: a society was founded from which the “Naval” plant grew
In Brussels Belgian entrepreneurs G.Ya. Francois and E.K. Delua founded the “Anonymous Society of Shipyards, Workshops and Foundries in the city of Mykolaiv”. The shipbuilding plant created by the society was commissioned in October 1897. The enterprise became known as “Naval”, and later as the Black Sea Shipbuilding Plant, one of the main centers of shipbuilding in Mykolaiv.
September 25, 2022: a missile struck near an apartment building in the Korabelnyi District
On the night of September 25, 2022 Russian forces shelled Mykolaiv with S-300 missiles, one of which hit the ground near a multi-storey building in the Korabelnyi District. The blast wave damaged the building, and two elderly people were trapped in an apartment — rescuers extricated them. Residential buildings and water supply networks were also damaged. No dead or injured were found at the scene.
September 25, 2024: trolleybus route to the Korabelnyi District approved
The executive committee of Mykolaiv City Council adopted a decision on a new trolleybus route from the railway station via Prospekt Myru, Kosmonavtiv Street, Bohoyavlenskyi Prospect and Prospekt Korabeliv to Aivazovskyi Street. Already on October 4, 2024 in Mykolaiv they launched route No. 10, and the Korabelnyi District, after more than 30 years of discussions, received direct trolleybus connection to other parts of the city.
September 25, 2025: a massive drone attack cut power to part of the railway
On the night of September 25, 2025 Russian forces massively attacked the Mykolaiv region with strike drones. Korabelov.info reported damage to an infrastructure facility and power outages on certain sections of the railway. The region recorded 2 hits and 19 downed enemy UAVs. According to preliminary information, people were not injured.

September 25, 1914 near Syanok saw the first battle of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen: Osyp Semeniuk’s sotnia clashed with a mounted detachment of Kuban Cossacks and won. And on September 25, 1992 the final section of the Main–Danube Canal was opened — since then a continuous navigable waterway almost 2900 km long between the North Sea and the Black Sea has existed.
Such was September 25 for Mykolaiv and the Korabelnyi District: from the beginning of a great shipbuilding history to the arrival of long-awaited electric transport and wartime events that have already become part of the city’s recent history.
