In the Kherson region, soldier "Akhmat" demanded $80,000 for a hostage's life and robbed the family
The occupiers seized 12 trucks, 12 trailers and a boat worth over UAH 17.7 million
In Kherson Oblast law enforcement officers have identified another serviceman of the Russian “Akhmat” unit, whom the investigation links to the torture of civilians and robberies during the occupation of Kherson. This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, in November 2022 Russian servicemen broke into the home of a local family of entrepreneurs. Their son was forcibly taken from the house and beaten in front of his mother.
Later the father was forced to go with the soldiers. Under threats, they demanded 100 thousand dollars for his son’s life. The man handed the occupiers 80 thousand dollars — the family’s entire savings (family‘s).
After that, the servicemen carried out an illegal search of the house. The owners were also forced to hand over keys and vehicle documents. As a result, the occupiers seized 12 trucks, 12 trailers and a boat. The total value of the property exceeded 17.7 million UAH.
A citizen of the Russian Federation was charged in absentia with cruel treatment of the civilian population and other violations of the laws and customs of war. He is accused under Part 2 of Art. 28 and Part 1 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violations of the laws and customs of war.
In November 2025 the indictment against one of the suspect’s accomplices was already sent to court.
Earlier it was reported that on the outskirts of Dnipro Russian forces destroyed a shopping and entertainment center. A fire broke out inside the building and nearby.
