Ran over a pedestrian — in Mykolaiv, police are establishing the circumstances of a traffic accident involving an SUV
A 51-year-old man was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk
Today, 24 August, at approximately 01:45 near house No. 9 – D on Heroes of Ukraine Avenue in Mykolaiv, a road traffic accident occurred involving a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, whose driver was a 51-year-old man, and a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway outside of a pedestrian crossing.
As a result of the crash, the 51-year-old pedestrian was taken to a medical facility with bodily injuries.
Investigators have preliminarily classified the incident under part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, “Violation of traffic safety rules or the operation of transport by persons who drive vehicles.” The article’s sanction provides for punishment of up to three years’ restriction of liberty with deprivation of the right to drive for the same period.
Police are currently clarifying all the circumstances of the road traffic accident.
