In the Mykolaiv region, a man stabbed his wife in the neck: the woman died in the hospital

During an argument that arose while consuming alcoholic beverages together, a man stabbed his wife in the neck. The victim died in hospital from the injury. Police detained the perpetrator in procedural order. For the committed act he faces up to 10 years in prison.

A report of the death of a 58-year-old woman was received by Police Department No. 1 of the Voznesensk District Police Directorate from medics on the evening of 13 August. According to medical staff, the victim was brought to the hospital, initially with an acute cerebrovascular event.

During the forensic medical examination of the deceased, specialists discovered a stab-cut wound to the neck.

During initial investigative and operational-search activities, police established that the victim’s 57-year-old husband was involved in the crime. While consuming alcoholic beverages together, a conflict arose between the spouses, during which the perpetrator struck the woman in the neck with a kitchen knife, but they did not seek medical help.

Some time after the incident, the victim began to complain of feeling unwell, and her relative called an ambulance. The man did not inform the medics about his wife’s injury.

Investigators detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and under the procedural guidance of the Voznesensk District Prosecutor’s Office notified the detainee of suspicion under part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional grievous bodily injury that caused the victim’s death. The article’s sanction provides for up to ten years of imprisonment.

The court has now ordered pretrial detention for the suspect.
