The roof of a house caught fire after a drone attack: 48 fires occurred in the Mykolaiv region in 24 hours, and vehicles were also ablaze
The total area of occupied land exceeded 28 hectares
11 August and on the night of 12 August in Mykolaiv Oblast 48 fires were recorded. Five of them occurred in the residential sector, and the total area of the fires exceeded 28 hectares.
In Snihurivka of Bashtanka district, as a result of an attack by a “Molniya”-type drone, the roof of a private house caught fire. The area of the fire was 1 square meter.
Other fires in the residential sector were mainly related to outbuildings and dry vegetation on private properties.
Two more fires occurred on vehicles:
- in the village of Serhiivka of the Bratska community, Voznesensk district, a VOLKSWAGEN GOLF car burned. The owner managed to react quickly and extinguish the fire on a small area before the arrival of a DSNS (State Emergency Service) unit;
- in the village of Kalynivka of the Voskresenska community, Mykolaiv district, the engine compartment of a NISSAN LEAFE caught fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire over an area of 2 square meters.
Other incidents were associated with the ignition of dry grass, shrubs, post-harvest residues and garbage in open areas.
Most fires occurred in Mykolaiv district. Another 10 fires took place in Voznesensk district, 9 — in Bashtanka district, 4 — in Pervomaisk district, and 5 — in Mykolaiv city.
DSNS (State Emergency Service) urges not to burn dry grass, stubble and garbage, not to throw cigarette butts and matches onto dry vegetation, and not to leave fires unattended. After finishing, be sure that the fire is completely extinguished.
Rescuers also remind not to light open fires near dry grass, shrubs and buildings. In case of ignition, call 101 immediately.
