The Korabelnyi District laid fallen defender Valentyn Kovshov to rest

On Tuesday, 23 June 2026, residents of Mykolaiv bid farewell to 52-year-old defender of Ukraine Valentyn Kovshov. The hero was killed on 15 June on the Kherson front during enemy artillery shelling.

The funeral cortege set off from the regional bureau of forensic medical examination and travelled along Tsentralnyi and Bohoyavlenskyi Avenues to the Korabelnyi district. Then the defender was taken to his parents’ house on Kakhovska Street, where family, friends and acquaintances were able to say their goodbyes.

The funeral service took place at the church in Balabanivka. After that, Valentyn Kovshov was buried in the Alley of Glory at Balabanivka Cemetery.

Valentyn was born on 2 May 1974. At one time he worked at the companies “Sandora” and “Nibulon”, where colleagues respected him for his reliability and willingness to help. In the years just before the full-scale war he worked at LLC “YUGEKOTOP”.

In 2025, Valentyn, following the call of his heart, voluntarily went to defend Ukraine. He joined the 79th Border Detachment and faithfully fulfilled his military duty until his last day.

Valentyn Kovshov gave his life for the freedom and independence of Ukraine, for the future of his family and for each of us.
