After years of risk and strain, the state raises salaries for police officers and rescue workers
The minimum base salary for a police officer should be 33.3 thousand hryvnias
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a bill that provides for an increase in monetary remuneration for police officers and State Emergency Service (DSNS) personnel.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.
Bill No. 6506-1 was supported by 269 members of parliament. The document updates the system of monetary remuneration for police officers and rescuers and strengthens their social guarantees.
According to the new provisions, the guaranteed official salary for a police officer will be 10 subsistence minimums. Currently this is about 33,300 hryvnias.
The law also provides for an updated system of length-of-service allowances and a clearer payment structure.
Previously, legislation did not establish a minimum level of monetary remuneration for police officers. The amount of salary depended on position, rank, length of service, working conditions, intensity of service and other factors.
For frontline regions, including Mykolaiv region, the issue of pay for security forces and rescuers remains particularly sensitive: these services work daily at sites of shelling, traffic accidents, fires, emergencies and dangerous finds.
