In Bukovina during a children’s excursion an accident occurred: a wooden bridge across the river could not withstand the load and collapsed. Several children were afterwards hospitalized. This was reported on 7 June 2026 by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Chernivtsi region.

The incident happened the previous day in the village of Vyzhenka of the Vyzhnytsia territorial community. According to rescuers, during the excursion a group of children simultaneously went onto a wooden bridge across the river. The structure could not withstand the load and collapsed. As a result of the incident several children were taken to a medical facility with injuries of varying severity. They are currently hospitalized. The State Emergency Service clarified that rescuers were not involved at the scene.

After this incident, Bukovina rescuers appealed to adults, group leaders and parents with a call to constantly remind children of safety rules during recreation, excursions and walks.

The service emphasizes: you must not create excessive load on bridges and other structures, ignore warning signs and restrictions, push or crowd in one place. During group trips children must follow the instructions of supervisors, and adults – assess possible risks on the route in advance.

This incident – another reminder that even an ordinary excursion or walk can become dangerous if there is an old, weak, or not designed for a large number of people structure nearby. Especially when it comes to children, responsibility for safety must be real, not merely formal.
