A security guard at a Mykolaiv hypermarket was sentenced to 15 years for treason: he passed information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a Russian blogger
The liaison was Serhii Lebediev (“Shaggy”), who is hiding in occupied Donetsk
Court in Mykolaiv handed down a verdict against a security guard of a local hypermarket for state treason: the 46-year-old man was found guilty of collecting intelligence on the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was sentenced to imprisonment for up to 15 years with confiscation of property.
The regional prosecutor’s office reported the verdict and the circumstances of the case.
According to the investigation, the 46-year-old security guard cooperated with representatives of Russian special services and passed them information about the locations and movements of Armed Forces of Ukraine units.
“Among the informant’s main tasks were: gathering data on temporary basing points of personnel and equipment of the Defense Forces engaged on the southern front direction, recording the approximate number and types of weapons of Ukrainian troops moving toward the front,” the regional prosecutor’s office said.
The collected information was sent by the perpetrator to a “contact,” who was the Russian blogger Serhii Lebedev, known under the pseudonym “Lokhmatyi,” who is hiding in temporarily occupied Donetsk.
Law enforcement detained the suspect at his place of residence in February of last year; during a sanctioned search they seized a mobile phone containing evidence of his activities.
After reviewing the case materials, the court found the man guilty and imposed a sentence of imprisonment for up to 15 years with confiscation of property.
