Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Mykolaiv Oblast has lost 22 children. This was reported on Thursday, 4 June, the Day of Remembrance for children who died as a result of armed Russian aggression, by the head of the Mykolaiv OVA Vitaliy Kim.

According to him, just in 2026 in the Mykolaiv region a 13-year-old girl died as a result of hostilities. This is another child death caused by Russia’s war against the peaceful population of Ukraine.

The head of the Mykolaiv OVA Vitaliy Kim, on the Day of Remembrance for children who died as a result of armed Russian aggression, recalled the losses that the Mykolaiv region has suffered since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

“Every year on June 4 Ukraine bows its head in sorrow, remembering the smallest and most defenseless victims of the Russian war

Since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s full-scale aggression, the Mykolaiv region has endured numerous losses and suffering. The war has taken many lives of residents of our land, among them very young, innocent children.

During the full-scale invasion, 22 children have been killed in the oblast. Unfortunately, this year the Russians also took the life of a 13-year-old girl from the Mykolaiv region.

This pain is with us forever. It is a wound that will not heal with time. We bow our heads in mourning and remember…”

In Mykolaiv a memorial event was also held for the Day of Remembrance for children who died as a result of armed Russian aggression against Ukraine. Representatives of the regional authorities, the education sector, the public and city residents took part in the ceremony.

Among the participants were the deputy head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Traitli, the director of the Department of Education and Science of the OVA Alla Velykhovska, the head of the children’s services Iryna Ponomaryova, as well as educators and concerned city residents.

Those present honored the memory of the deceased children with a minute of silence. Special attention during the event was paid to the children of Mykolaiv Oblast whose lives were cut short by Russian aggression.

As a sign of bright memory for the little Ukrainians, participants of the ceremony lit candles. Symbolic angels and bells were placed on the trees — as a reminder of the children’s voices that will never sound again but will remain forever in the memory of relatives, communities and the entire country.

According to the children’s service of the Mykolaiv OVA, since the start of the full-scale invasion 22 children have died in the region. Each such death is not a statistic, but a ruined life, an interrupted story and an irreparable tragedy for the family.

Organizers emphasized: the memory of every child killed by the war must be preserved as a reminder of the price of freedom and of why Ukraine is forced to defend its future from Russian aggression.

The mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Senkevych also reminded that among those killed by Russia’s actions are young Mykolaiv residents.

“🧸🕯 June 4 is the Day of Commemoration for children who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.

It is the Russian aggressor who brought war to our land.
It is Russian shelling that takes the lives of Ukrainian children.

Mykolaiv remembers: three of our young residents died due to Russia’s actions.

And behind each of these losses is a life destroyed that had only just begun.

This is a crime for which there must be accountability.

🕯 In bright memory of the little Mykolaiv residents and all Ukrainian children killed by Russian aggression.

We remember. We will not forgive.”
