The village head in Mykolaiv region will be tried for fictitious land management

The investigation is complete, the indictment has been sent to court; the penalty — up to 12 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property

In the Mykolaiv district an official who is suspected of embezzling more than 2 400 000 hryvnias from the community budget during the procurement of land management services will stand trial; the indictment has now been sent to court.

The regional police reported that the pre-trial investigation is complete and that the materials concerning the alleged misappropriation of funds by the official have been forwarded for substantive consideration.

According to the investigation, in 2024 the head of one of the settlement military administrations, acting on behalf of the territorial community, concluded a contract with an entrepreneur to perform work in the field of land management.

After signing the contract, the official secured full payment to the contractor without properly verifying the volume and quality of the services provided and the actual fulfillment of the agreement, which caused losses to the local budget in the amount of more than 2 400 000 hryvnias.

In March the suspect was notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, after which the court imposed a preventive measure in the form of bail.

Prosecutors have sent the indictment to court, so the case will be heard on the merits taking into account the evidence collected and the circumstances established during the investigation.

The sanction of the incriminated article provides for a sentence of up to 12 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to 3 years and with confiscation of property.
