In the city of Izmail, during a search of the apartment of a deceased resident, police discovered a bag containing the body of a newborn boy, Member of Parliament Pavlo Sushko reported.
The MP cited information he had received and published it on his Telegram, adding that he heads the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada tasked with investigating possible violations of children’s rights, in particular the right to life and safety. According to available information, a 33-year-old woman died in the intensive care unit of the city hospital; she had been admitted with a diagnosis of “seizure syndrome associated with alcohol dependence.”
During subsequent investigative actions in the apartment where the deceased woman had been living with two young children, law enforcement officers found a bag with the body of the newborn in a wardrobe.
The published report did not provide further details about the circumstances of the incident or the child’s origin.
