Embroidered shirt instead of a ticket: Mykolaiv residents are invited onto festive buses

In Mykolaiv, for World Vyshyvanka Day, passengers wearing vyshyvankas will be allowed to use municipal buses for free. This was reported on May 19, 2026 on the page of KP MMR “Mykolaivpastrans” on their Facebook page.

The festive promotion will run on May 21. It is on this day that World Vyshyvanka Day is celebrated in Ukraine and around the world. In 2026 this tradition marks its 20th anniversary. The company noted that passengers who come in vyshyvankas on that day will be able to use municipal buses without paying a fare. The promotion has not only a transport but also a symbolic meaning: in this way residents are urged to support Ukrainian traditions and make the day brighter.

For Mykolaiv, which lives under conditions of a full-scale war, such initiatives have special significance. The vyshyvanka today is not just festive clothing, but a sign of Ukrainian identity, memory, and resilience in the face of Russian aggression. In “Mykolaivpastrans” they call on residents to wear vyshyvankas, preserve Ukrainian traditions, and join the festive mood.
