A girl died from an electric arc — she raised a fishing rod under the power lines

On Sunday, April 19, while relaxing by the lake in the village of Poroshkovo in Zakarpattia, a minor girl died from electrocution; despite prompt medical assistance, her life could not be saved.
The victim’s mother reported the incident to the 102 emergency line, after which, according to the Zakarpattia Regional Police, an investigative-operational team and an ambulance crew were immediately dispatched to the scene. The information was published on the agency’s Facebook page: link.
The medical personnel who arrived at the call carried out the necessary measures, but declared the child dead. Police officers documented the circumstances at the scene and established preliminary details of the incident.
According to the mother, the family was relaxing on the shore of the lake in Poroshkovo. At the moment when the girl was standing under a high-voltage power line and raised her fishing rod upward, an air breakdown occurred due to the high voltage — an electric arc struck the minor, causing fatal injuries.
The police will enter information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations. A forensic medical examination has been ordered to determine the final cause of death.
