To the editorial office of Korabelov.info on April 18, 2026, outraged subscribers appealed with a complaint about the condition of the public restroom at the Zhovtneve Cemetery. In their message they described what they saw as unsanitary conditions, a lack of basic facilities, and years of neglect of the municipal facility.

According to readers, visiting the place of remembrance has practically become a trial. In the video sent to the editorial office, the restroom’s extremely neglected condition is visible: the building looks dilapidated, the interior is dirty, and any normal sanitary conditions, it seems, have long been forgotten.

People also ask a quite logical question: where do the funds for the upkeep of such facilities go, and why has the issue of hygiene in such a frequently visited place been ignored for years. In their appeal, residents called on KP “Mykolaiv Ritual Service” and the city authorities to finally pay attention to the problem.

The comments under the post also provoked a separate wave of emotion. Some residents believe that responsibility should be demanded from those who are supposed to maintain the grounds and municipal buildings in proper condition. Others shift the blame onto the visitors themselves, saying people behave the same way as at home.

However, in response to such accusations other commenters note that the problem is not only the behavior of individual visitors but also the condition of the building itself. According to them, the restroom looks as if it has been deteriorating for years, and therefore blaming only people for what is happening there is, at the very least, unfair.

And this, it seems, is what annoys residents most: when it’s not just about dirt, but about obvious multi-year neglect in a place where people come not for a walk but to the graves of their loved ones. Respect for the dead does not begin with loud words on holidays, but with basic order in the places where this memory should be preserved every day.
