In Mykolaiv, a boy personally appealed to the children’s services of the Central District administration asking to be removed from his family; the issue has been included in an executive committee draft decision on immediate removal.

As stated in the document published on the city council website, specialists are preparing a decision on the urgent removal of the child from the dangerous environment and on determining the place of their temporary stay. Materials can be viewed at the link: executive committee draft decisions.

According to the boy, the stepfather systematically behaved cruelly: he beat him, locked him in the basement without light for several hours, forcing him to sit directly on the floor. In addition, the child reported that he twice struck his face with a ball, took away all his toys, and did not allow him to communicate with peers.

The child also said that he ran away from home to his grandparents in dirty, worn clothes and does not want to return to his mother and stepfather; he asked relatives for protection.

The case was considered at a meeting of the relevant commission. Based on the review of the circumstances, the commission members concluded that the boy’s continued stay in the family is dangerous and recommended preparing an executive committee draft decision on his immediate removal from the parents.

The draft also foresees temporarily placing the child with his grandfather and grandmother for the period necessary to ensure his safety and to determine the further form of placement.
