In the Mykolaiv region, a pre-trial investigation has been completed regarding a village head whose inaction, according to the investigation, caused the community losses of more than UAH 630,000; the indictment has already been sent to the court for consideration on the merits.

The Mykolaiv Oblast Police reported on the progress of the proceedings.

Law enforcement officers found that in 2023 a contract was concluded between the village council and a state enterprise for engineering-survey and scientific-design works in the field of the rational use of natural resources.

The investigation established that the 65-year-old official did not check either the completeness or the quality of the performed work, but signed the acceptance certificates. After that, budget funds were paid to the state enterprise without justification; part of the work was actually not performed, and the provided materials did not comply with state construction norms and standards.

The official’s actions were classified under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — official negligence that caused grave consequences.

In March this year the village head was notified of suspicion, and now the indictment has been sent to the court for consideration on the merits.

If found guilty, the official faces up to 5 years of imprisonment with disqualification from holding certain positions for up to 3 years, as well as a fine.
