A free social taxi service for people with disabilities operates in 13 communities of the Mykolaiv region
A service for users of wheelchairs is being implemented by the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration as part of the National Accessibility Strategy
In the Mykolaiv region, people who use a wheelchair can use the social taxi service free of charge, which is already operating in 13 communities of the region; this was reported during a briefing by the Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Oksana Yelchiieva.
According to the head of the department, the region is consistently implementing the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment along six directions: physical, digital, informational, public, societal and educational accessibility.
During her speech she outlined the scope of initiatives aimed at supporting people with disabilities.
«– In the Mykolaiv region, approximately 60 flagship projects are currently being implemented that are aimed at supporting persons with disabilities. These projects are effective because the number of people using such services is increasing, – said the director of the social protection department.»
As a separate direction in the region, a social taxi service operates: in 13 communities transport groups have been formed that help people with disabilities get to hospitals, social service centers, educational institutions and other necessary places.
