In Dnipro, three people in balaclavas attempted to abduct a judge; she was hospitalized with a serious injury

March 13 in the city of Dnipro three unknown individuals wearing balaclavas attacked near the entrance to the building a judge of the Industrial District Court, attempting to forcibly abduct her; the victim was hospitalized, and doctors assess her condition as serious.

The Council of Judges of Ukraine reported the attack, as stated in a notice on their website, and also in an article by “Ukrayinska Pravda” citing sources. The Council of Judges published details of the incident in its statement: the body condemned the act of violence against a member of the judiciary.

According to a source, the perpetrators arrived in a vehicle without license plates and attacked the judge just outside her building entrance. The attackers struck the woman on the head, used pepper spray and tried to forcefully drag her into the car.

The judge’s husband intervened during the struggle and prevented the abduction, while he himself sustained injuries.

The victim’s condition is considered serious; she is under medical supervision.

The press service of the Council of Judges noted that this is likely the first such attack on a judge since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Law enforcement agencies are investigating the attackers’ motives. The Council of Judges also intends to initiate restrictions on access to information about the residence of judges and their family members and to propose a review of the scope of open data on judges in state registers.

It is known that the judge’s husband was also injured while preventing the abduction. The victim was hospitalized; doctors assess her condition as serious.

Authorities are currently investigating the motives of the crime.

In a video circulating online, the moment of the attack is likely captured. A voice off-screen claims that the attackers were employees of TCK.
