November 7<\/strong> left a notable mark on the history of Korabelnyi District<\/strong> and Mykolaiv<\/strong>. On this day, shipbuilders celebrated the restoration of the combat fleet and laid down tankers; city residents welcomed defenders returning from the front, while workers at Ocean and the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant worried about their future. Later, the date became associated with the fight to save Mayak Forest, a Russian missile among residential buildings, transport aid from Norway, sporting gold, and promises to restore drinking water.<\/p>\n

November 7, 1923<\/strong>: the flag was ceremonially raised aboard the destroyer Nezamozhnyi<\/h2>\n

At the Andre Marty Shipyard in Mykolaiv<\/strong>, a ceremony was held to raise the naval ensign aboard the destroyer Nezamozhnyi. As reported<\/a> by the newspaper Krasny Nikolayev on November 6 and 9, 1923<\/strong>, a large rally was organized at the shipyard. The vessel became one of the symbols of the Black Sea Fleet\u2019s restoration after the devastation of war.<\/p>\n

November 7, 1925<\/strong>: the first Soviet-built tanker in Mykolaiv was laid down<\/h2>\n

The tanker Krasny Nikolayev, later renamed Embaneft, was laid down at the Andre Marty Shipyard. The destroyer Shaumyan also left the shipyard that day. These events are confirmed by records from the State Archives of Mykolaiv Oblast. The tanker’s keel-laying marked an important step in the shipyard’s transition from completing old vessels to building new ships.<\/p>\n

November 7, 1936<\/strong>: Mykola Vinhranovskyi was born<\/h2>\n

The renowned Ukrainian Sixtier poet, prose writer, actor, and film director Mykola Stepanovych Vinhranovskyi<\/strong> was born in Bohopol, now part of Pervomaisk<\/strong> in Mykolaiv Oblast<\/strong>. In 1984<\/strong>, he became a Shevchenko Prize laureate. His biography is documented<\/a> by the Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine. This year marks the 90th anniversary<\/strong> of the artist\u2019s birth.<\/p>\n

November 7, 1946<\/strong>: Mykolaiv unveiled its first monument to the Olshanskyi heroes<\/h2>\n

A monument to the soldiers who took part in the liberation of Mykolaiv<\/strong> from Nazi occupation was unveiled at the burial site of the landing party commanded by Konstantin Olshansky<\/strong>. The monument was created by sculptor Oleksii Izmalkov<\/strong>. A witness to the ceremony recalled<\/a> the unveiling. The current memorial complex was established at the site in 1974<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

November 7, 2013<\/strong>: Ocean owed nearly 10 million hryvnias to 836 shipyard workers<\/h2>\n

At a city commission meeting, it was reported<\/a> that the Ocean Shipyard in Korabelnyi District<\/strong> owed its employees 9.8 million hryvnias<\/strong>. A total of 836 shipyard workers<\/strong> were waiting for their wages. The liquidation process had begun on November 1<\/strong>. The shipyard had failed to meet its debt repayment schedule, and the city authorities decided to seek help from the regional administration.<\/p>\n

November 7, 2014<\/strong>: more than 300 Mykolaiv residents welcomed marines back from the front<\/h2>\n

In Mykolaiv<\/strong>, residents gave a formal welcome<\/a> to service members of a combined marine company returning from the combat zone as part of a rotation. The defenders arrived in two buses<\/strong> and were greeted by a band. More than 300 people<\/strong> gathered outside the military unit. Residents gave the soldiers flowers, embraced them, and chanted \u201cGlory to the Heroes!\u201d and the marines\u2019 motto, \u201cFaithful forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

November 7, 2014<\/strong>: Communists in Korabelnyi called for negotiations with the \u201cpeople\u2019s republics\u201d<\/h2>\n

That same day, supporters of the Communist Party held<\/a> a rally in Korabelnyi District<\/strong>. Participants adopted a resolution with demands for the Ukrainian authorities, including a call for the president to sit down for talks with representatives of the so-called \u201cpeople\u2019s republics.\u201d The resolution was read out by Tetiana Bykova<\/strong>, second secretary of the district Communist Party organization. The rally ended with a performance of \u201cThe Internationale.\u201d<\/p>\n

November 7, 2016<\/strong>: court protects part of Mayak Forest from privatization<\/h2>\n

Korabelov.info reported<\/a> another court victory for those protecting Mayak Forest in Korabelnyi District<\/strong>. On November 2<\/strong>, the court of appeal rejected a complaint from private owners and upheld the decision to return a plot of land at 1\/46 Mendeleev Street to state ownership. The court had previously ruled that the land allocation in 2009<\/strong> and its subsequent resale were unlawful. Local activists and Anti-Terrorist Operation veterans campaigned to preserve the recreational area.<\/p>\n

November 7, 2016<\/strong>: Mykolaiv Alumina Plant workers feared losing their jobs<\/h2>\n

Employees of the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant told<\/a> the newsroom about their concerns over Ukraine\u2019s sanctions against the Rusal company. According to them, problems with ships carrying bauxite entering port and alumina being shipped out arose between November 1 and 3<\/strong>. Workers feared that production might be halted. At the same time, the plant\u2019s press service assured them that it was operating as usual, the technical issues had been resolved, and the sanctions targeted Rusal, not the plant itself.<\/p>\n

November 7, 2022<\/strong>: part of a Russian missile fell among homes in Korabelnyi<\/h2>\n

In the middle of the day, the tail section of a Russian missile launched toward Mykolaiv<\/strong> fell<\/a> in a residential area of Korabelnyi District<\/strong>. A local resident sent the newsroom a video showing the aftermath. According to Korabelov.info, there were no casualties.<\/p>\n

November 7, 2023<\/strong>: Mykolaiv receives six buses from Norway for routes to Korabelnyi<\/h2>\n

Mykolaiv<\/strong> received<\/a> six passenger buses<\/strong> from the Norwegian city of Kristiansand. Four buses can carry 86 passengers<\/strong> each, and the other two can carry 97<\/strong>. The buses were intended, among other uses, for routes to Korabelnyi District<\/strong>. The assistance was arranged after Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych<\/strong> told the city\u2019s partners that the war had caused a shortage of public transport.<\/p>\n

November 7, 2024<\/strong>: Mykolaiv fencer wins World Cup gold<\/h2>\n

In the Italian city of Pisa, Mykolaiv native Oleh Naumenko<\/strong> won<\/a> a gold medal at the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup. He won the individual \u00e9p\u00e9e event in category B. His coaches were Honored Coaches of Ukraine Hennadii Yanovskyi<\/strong>, Oleksandr Doroshyn<\/strong>, and Volodymyr Khrystyk<\/strong>. The newsroom reported his victory the following day.<\/p>\n

On November 7, 1917<\/strong>, or October 25 according to the Julian calendar<\/strong>, the Bolsheviks staged a coup in Petrograd and seized central power in Russia. For decades, the USSR marked this event as the \u201cOctober Revolution.\u201d As the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory notes<\/a>, the establishment of Bolshevik rule marked the beginning of a new stage in the struggle for Ukrainian statehood.<\/p>\n
