According to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ef6199e25927a9ac9f4c18eae0e497cd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press<\/a><\/strong>, Democrats gained <strong>five<\/strong> additional Senate seats and took control of the upper chamber, which had been held by Republicans before the election.<\/p>\n<p>Among the results that secured the Democrats\u2019 success were victories in states that had previously backed Republicans, as well as retaining their own Senate seats:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>North Carolina.<\/strong> Former Governor <strong>Roy Cooper<\/strong> defeated Republican <strong>Michael Whatley<\/strong>, who was endorsed by <strong>U.S. President Donald Trump<\/strong>. As a result, the Senate seat previously held by Republicans went to the Democrats.<\/li>\n<li><strong>South Carolina.<\/strong> Democrat <strong>Annie Andrews<\/strong> defeated Republican <strong>Darlene Graham<\/strong>. Her opponent had temporarily held the Senate seat after the death of her brother, Senator <strong>Lindsey Graham<\/strong>. <strong>Andrews<\/strong> will become the <strong>first<\/strong> woman elected to the <strong>U.S. Senate<\/strong> from this state. For Democrats, this is a Senate election victory in a state they had not won since <strong>1998<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Georgia.<\/strong> Democratic Senator <strong>Jon Ossoff<\/strong> was reelected, retaining the seat for his party.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New Hampshire.<\/strong> Democrat <strong>Chris Pappas<\/strong> won, allowing the party to hold its position in this state as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meanwhile, the race for a majority in the <strong>House of Representatives<\/strong> remains undecided. All <strong>435<\/strong> seats are up for reelection, and a party needs at least <strong>218<\/strong> to control the chamber.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have already won in several districts previously represented by Republicans.
