National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko and Head of the President\u2019s Office <strong>Kyrylo Budanov<\/strong> arrived at the scene. During the standoff, people broke through a fence, pelted police officers with eggs, and smashed a bus into which men taken out of the building had been placed.<\/p>\n<h2>Men beaten, medics denied access, and TCC detainees<\/h2>\n<p>The protest began after reports that around 40 men were allegedly being held unlawfully in the house. Eyewitnesses said some of them had been beaten and urgently needed medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>In a video, a medical worker is seen kneeling and pleading to be let inside. TSN published footage of people who were allegedly being held in the house. Reports said that four people were unconscious, one man had a broken spine, and another was unable to speak.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/telegram.org\/js\/telegram-widget.js?22\" data-telegram-post=\"korabelov_info\/131044\" data-width=\"100%\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko, who arrived at the scene, explained that the building was being used as a temporary accommodation facility for mobilized men. According to him, men detained by TCC representatives were brought there. National Guard service members who had left their units without authorization were also among those inside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oleksandr Pivnenko<\/strong> confirmed that four service members had been hospitalized. According to the medical worker, there were approximately 25\u201330 men in the building.<\/p>\n<h2>Men put on a bus, which the crowd then smashed<\/h2>\n<p>Even before Kyrylo Budanov arrived, around two dozen men were taken out of the building and put on a bus.<\/p>\n<p>However, people at the scene began smashing the vehicle, breaking its windows. The footage captures sounds resembling gunshots. The men were then let off the bus.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/telegram.org\/js\/telegram-widget.js?22\" data-telegram-post=\"korabelov_info\/131064\" data-width=\"100%\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The crowd chanted, \u201cShame!\u201d People also tore down part of a brick fence and pelted police officers with eggs.<\/p>\n<p>The men who had been at what was described as a National Guard accommodation facility told journalists they had not been beaten. However, footage shot by a correspondent shows what appear to be signs of beatings on some of them.<\/p>\n<p>The circumstances of the men\u2019s stay in the building, their transfer by bus, and whether they were free to leave the accommodation facility raised the most questions.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/telegram.org\/js\/telegram-widget.js?22\" data-telegram-post=\"korabelov_info\/131067\" data-width=\"100%\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>Budanov arrived to investigate, and a 14-year-old boy was found in the building<\/h2>\n<p>Later, Head of the President\u2019s Office Kyrylo Budanov arrived at the scene. He spoke with the protesters in person.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining why he had come, Kyrylo Budanov said:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-light\"><p>\u201cI came here to figure out what the f*ck is going on.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He later assured those present that there were no hostages in the building and urged them to leave.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-light\"><p>\u201cThere are no \u2018hostages\u2019 in the house. There\u2019s no one else to wait for. Leave.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Another incident that drew widespread attention was the discovery of a 14-year-old boy in the house. In the video, he appeared frightened and disoriented. The teenager said he had come there \u201cwith the guys.\u201d According to eyewitnesses, he had allegedly been beaten with a shovel. His family was contacted.<\/p>\n<p>The National Guard announced an official investigation. President\u2019s Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of Military Personnel Olha Reshetylova also said that an inquiry was underway.<\/p>\n<p>The key question remains unanswered: if this was an ordinary accommodation facility for mobilized men, why did they effectively have to be freed from a bus during the protest, why were medics denied access to them, and how did some of the men sustain injuries?
