During the preventive maintenance, drinking tap water or using it to prepare food without first treating it is strictly prohibited. <strong>Mykolaivvodokanal<\/strong> has issued a reminder about the restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Flushing the system may cause a characteristic smell of chlorine in the water. The utility explains that this is to be expected during disinfection.<\/p>\n<p>However, tap water may still be used for household purposes, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>showering and bathing;<\/li>\n<li>washing clothes;<\/li>\n<li>cleaning premises;<\/li>\n<li>washing dishes;<\/li>\n<li>flushing toilets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Residents are advised to follow these restrictions and warn their neighbors so that no one accidentally drinks untreated tap water during chlorination.<\/p>\n<p>The work was preceded by a legal challenge to the decision to hyperchlorinate the network. According to <strong>Ihor Bloshko, anti-corruption officer at the municipal enterprise \u201cMykolaivvodokanal\u201d<\/strong>, community activist, former service member, and combat veteran <strong>Valerii Prud<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/korabelov.info\/en\/2026\/10\/631448\/mykolaiv-plans-to-hyperchlorinate-its-water-the-decision-is-already-being-challenged-in-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn the decision<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A previous report published on <strong>October 29<\/strong> said the lawsuit had been accepted for consideration. However, <strong>Ihor Bloshko<\/strong> said that Judge <strong>Vasyl Yaroshchuk<\/strong> had denied the motion for interim relief.
