The charges concern using subordinates for private construction work instead of military service, as well as illegal handling of ammunition. The case was reported by the <strong>Office of the Prosecutor General<\/strong>. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/gp.gov.ua\/ua\/posts\/polkovnika-obvinuvacuyut-u-vikoristanni-pidleglix-dlya-budivnictva-privatnogo-budinku-ta-nezakonnomu-zberiganni-bojepripasiv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gp.gov.ua<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecution, from <strong>January 2025<\/strong> to <strong>May 2026<\/strong>, the officer assigned <strong>two<\/strong> service members to renovate his mother-in-law\u2019s house, where the colonel also lived. Instead of performing their military duties, the subordinates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>repaired the roof;<\/li>\n<li>poured the foundation;<\/li>\n<li>built a fence;<\/li>\n<li>landscaped the property;<\/li>\n<li>transported construction materials in a service vehicle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The investigation alleges that the colonel excused the service members from duty rosters and allowed them to leave their posts. During the period they worked on the private project, they were unlawfully paid <strong>nearly 536,000 hryvnias<\/strong> in military compensation and additional remuneration from the state budget.<\/p>\n<p>A separate episode in the case concerns ammunition. During a search of the colonel\u2019s residence on <strong>May 13, 2026<\/strong>, authorities seized <strong>552 rounds<\/strong> of various calibers, including <strong>242 live rounds<\/strong> and <strong>310 sporting pistol rounds<\/strong>. According to investigators, the man acquired and stored them illegally.<\/p>\n<p>The colonel has been charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>abuse of office;<\/li>\n<li>organizing the evasion of military service by subordinates under martial law;<\/li>\n<li>illegal handling of ammunition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The officer has already been transferred to another position. An order has also been issued assigning him to a combat unit.<\/p>\n<p>The subordinates pleaded guilty to evading service.
