They performed an endovascular recanalization\u2014the first operation of its kind in <strong>Kherson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The patient was admitted to the vascular surgery department with gangrene of a lower limb. During the examination, doctors found that his popliteal artery was completely blocked.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-light\"><p>\u201cUsing special equipment, the doctors restored blood flow in the affected artery through a small incision in the thigh,\u201d said <strong>Oleksandr Prokudin<\/strong>, head of the <strong>Kherson Regional Military Administration<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The operation was performed by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ihor Bolianovskyi<\/strong> \u2014 vascular surgeon;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ruslan Ivashko<\/strong> \u2014 vascular surgeon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The patient was discharged home <strong>the following day<\/strong> after the procedure.<\/p>\n<p>The workload at another medical facility in the city, <strong>Kherson City Clinical Hospital<\/strong>, is <strong>200\u2013300%<\/strong> of normal.
