On the evening of October 22<\/strong>, a conflict at a shop checkout in Ochakiv<\/strong>, Mykolaiv Oblast<\/strong>, ended with a 29-year-old<\/strong> man being stabbed. An ambulance took the victim to hospital with a chest wound. Police tracked down and detained the attacker within a few hours.<\/p>\n

According to the Mykolaiv Oblast Police<\/strong>, a verbal argument first broke out between customers at the shop. Afterward, one<\/strong> of the men went home, took a knife and returned to the shop. He stabbed his opponent in the chest, left the knife at the scene and fled.<\/p>\n

Police learned about the incident from a shop employee and medical staff. An investigative team from Police Station No. 7 of the Mykolaiv District Police Department<\/strong> found and seized the knife. It was sent for forensic examination.<\/p>\n

Local police, with the assistance of specialists from the Criminal Analysis Department of the Regional Police Headquarters<\/strong>, identified the attacker and located him within a few hours. He was a 58-year-old<\/strong> resident of the city. Investigators detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The victim remains in hospital. Doctors describe his condition as consistently serious.<\/p>\n

With the approval of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor\u2019s Office<\/strong>, investigators notified the detainee that he was suspected of committing an intentional serious bodily injury under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. He faces up to 8 years<\/strong> in prison.<\/p>\n

The court is expected to decide on a preventive measure for the suspect soon. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
