According to the <strong>Mykolaiv Oblast Police<\/strong>, the man was recently sentenced to up to <strong>nine years<\/strong> in prison. The verdict has not yet entered into force.<\/p>\n<p>The events that led to the criminal proceedings took place in <strong>June 2024<\/strong>. Police received operational information that a <strong>40-year-old<\/strong> resident of <strong>Voznesensk<\/strong> was keeping drug-containing plants. The information was checked and confirmed, and officers obtained a court order to search his property.<\/p>\n<p>During the investigative actions on the property, the man behaved aggressively, used obscene language and obstructed the search. He threatened police officers with an object that looked like a knife.<\/p>\n<p>The following items were found and seized from his home:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>about <strong>4 kilograms<\/strong> of ready-to-use <strong>cannabis<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>56 rounds<\/strong> of <strong>5.45 mm<\/strong> ammunition;<\/li>\n<li><strong>two magazines<\/strong> for automatic weapons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All seized items were sent for the relevant examinations. The man was detained at the time under <strong>Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Under the procedural supervision of the <strong>Voznesensk District Prosecutor\u2019s Office<\/strong>, investigators initially notified him of suspicion under the following articles of the <strong>Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Part 1, Article 345<\/strong> \u2014 threatening violence against a law enforcement officer in connection with the performance of official duties;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Part 1, Article 263<\/strong> \u2014 illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After the expert reports were received, the man was notified of <strong>another<\/strong> suspicion \u2014 illegally acquiring, manufacturing and possessing narcotic drugs for sale in especially large quantities. These actions were classified under <strong>Part 3, Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After completing the pre-trial investigation, investigators submitted the indictment to the prosecutor\u2019s office. It was then sent to court for a hearing on the merits.<\/p>\n<p>Following the trial, the man was found guilty of <strong>two<\/strong> criminal offenses under <strong>Part 1, Article 345<\/strong> and <strong>Part 3, Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. The court imposed a sentence for threatening police officers with violence and illegally trafficking narcotic drugs for sale in especially large quantities. Procedural supervision of the case was carried out by the <strong>Voznesensk District Prosecutor\u2019s Office<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Under <strong>Article 532 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine<\/strong>, a first-instance court verdict enters into force after the expiry of the prescribed appeal period, provided no appeal has been filed.
