Russian presidential spokesman <strong>Dmitry Peskov<\/strong>, quoted by <strong>TASS<\/strong>, said that <strong>Moscow<\/strong> had no intention of changing its position on the issue.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-light\"><p>\u201cRussia needs peace, not a truce,\u201d said <strong>Dmitry Peskov<\/strong>, explaining the <strong>Kremlin\u2019s<\/strong> position by claiming it was interested in ending the war completely rather than in a temporary ceasefire.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At the same time, the spokesman acknowledged that resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war without the participation of representatives of the Ukrainian government was impossible.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-light\"><p>\u201cSomeone there has to make a responsible decision,\u201d added <strong>Dmitry Peskov<\/strong>, without specifying whom he meant.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He also responded to remarks by <strong>Finland\u2019s<\/strong> president, <strong>Alexander Stubb<\/strong>, about possible new proposals to end the war. The Finnish president said that new ideas for a peaceful settlement had been developed at a meeting in <strong>Norway<\/strong>. The meeting was attended by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the Ukrainian delegation;<\/li>\n<li>the US delegation;<\/li>\n<li>the European delegation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to <strong>Stubb<\/strong>, the proposals are to be presented to the Russian side. The president of <strong>Finland<\/strong> stressed that finding peace requires patience, but the war is ongoing and claims lives every day. He described the joint development of proposals as a step in the right direction and urged all opportunities to be used to end the fighting.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Kremlin<\/strong> reacted critically to these remarks.
