The damage was caused by catching fish, shrimp, and crabs in the <strong>Berezan Estuary<\/strong> in the <strong>Mykolaiv region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to compensating for the damage, the woman was sentenced to <strong>one year<\/strong> of probation supervision. The court also ordered the confiscation, in favor of the state, of the prohibited fishing gear and other property used in the offense.<\/p>\n<p>The illegal fishing took place in <strong>May<\/strong> near the village of <strong>Viktorivka<\/strong>, while the spring spawning ban was in effect. The woman set a gill net and a fish trap in the water. Using this gear, she caught:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>crucian carp;<\/li>\n<li>gobies;<\/li>\n<li>flounder;<\/li>\n<li>shrimp;<\/li>\n<li><strong>two<\/strong> green crabs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Experts calculated the amount of damage caused to the state. The <strong>State Environmental Inspectorate of the South-Western District<\/strong> acted as the injured party in the criminal proceedings and filed a civil claim for compensation.
