October 10<\/strong> brought together major shipbuilding projects, a fight over port property, and the upheavals of war in the history of the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> and Mykolaiv<\/strong>. On this day, the government tried to save the construction of bulk carriers at Ocean Shipyard, courts ruled on the fate of berths and the estuary\u2019s waters, and years later Russian missiles fell among residential buildings.<\/p>\n

October 10, 1997<\/strong>: an 8 million hryvnia loan was being prepared for Ocean<\/h2>\n

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted Resolution No. 1131<\/strong> to support the construction of Panamax-class bulk carriers at Ocean Shipyard in Mykolaiv\u2019s Korabelnyi District<\/strong>. The Ministry of Industrial Policy was tasked with preparing documents for an 8 million hryvnia<\/strong> loan to complete the lead vessel, the Kyiv (order No. 501<\/strong>). A guarantee from the Ministry of Finance was envisaged. This was an attempt to ensure the shipyard could continue operating and save an important shipbuilding contract.<\/p>\n

October 10, 2017<\/strong>: court terminates MGZ berth lease<\/h2>\n

The Commercial Court of Mykolaiv Region<\/strong> terminated<\/a> the lease of state-owned berths held by the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant and declared their sublease invalid. The case concerned 5 berths<\/strong> leased to another company. The prosecutor\u2019s office estimated that the budget had missed out on more than 7 million hryvnias<\/strong>. However, the berths could not be returned to the state immediately: the court separately rejected that request because the boundaries of the port area had not been clearly defined.<\/p>\n

October 10, 2018<\/strong>: 26 hectares of the Bug Estuary bed registered for the city<\/h2>\n

The state register recorded<\/a> Mykolaiv\u2019s<\/strong> municipal ownership of 26.0034 hectares<\/strong> of the Bug Estuary waters for the benefit of Nika-Tera\u2019s port infrastructure. The site later became the subject of a dispute that also involved Ocean Shipyard. In 2021<\/strong>, the Commercial Court ruled the registration illegal because the site was part of a body of water of national importance. The Court of Appeal upheld the ruling.<\/p>\n

October 10, 2022<\/strong>: an S-300 missile hit a house\u2019s fence in Korabelnyi and failed to explode<\/h2>\n

On the night of October 10<\/strong>, Russian forces fired 10 S-300 missiles at Mykolaiv<\/strong>, as Vitalii Kim<\/strong>, head of the Regional Military Administration, reported<\/a>. One of the missiles hit<\/a> a fence by a residential building in Korabelnyi District<\/strong>, but did not detonate. SES bomb disposal experts were called in to remove the dangerous object. The same night, shelling set fire to a warehouse belonging to one of the city\u2019s businesses. 45 firefighters<\/strong> battled the blaze, which covered an area of 700 square meters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

October 10, 2024<\/strong>: Russians strike Mykolaiv twice with ballistic missiles<\/h2>\n

At 11:48<\/strong> and 12:10<\/strong>, Russian forces carried out a double strike<\/a> on a critical infrastructure site in Mykolaiv<\/strong>. According to preliminary information, Iskander-M missiles were used. Just 22 minutes<\/strong> passed between the explosions. After the first strike, civilians were moved away from the danger zone in time. A fire broke out and residential buildings were damaged. Later, it was confirmed<\/a> that three people<\/strong> had been injured.<\/p>\n

October 10, 2025<\/strong>: Senkevych warns of a possible total blackout<\/h2>\n

Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych<\/strong> said<\/a> that Mykolaiv<\/strong> could not guarantee an uninterrupted supply of electricity, heating, and water if Russia launched large-scale attacks. Under the worst-case scenario, water was to be distributed twice a day\u2014for 3 hours<\/strong> in the morning and evening. The mayor urged residents to prepare for a difficult winter, stressing that a power outage could halt both heating and water supplies at once.<\/p>\n

On this day in Ukraine<\/h2>\n

On October 10, 2022<\/strong>, Russia carried out one of its largest missile attacks on Ukrainian cities at that point in the war. Explosions were heard in Kyiv<\/strong>, Dnipro<\/strong>, Lviv<\/strong>, and other cities. Korabelov.info reported<\/a> that, earlier that morning, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi<\/strong> had said that 75 missiles<\/strong> had been launched, of which air defenses had shot down 41<\/strong> by that point. The attack was ongoing, so those figures were not final.<\/p>\n

That is how October 10<\/strong> became part of Mykolaiv\u2019s<\/strong> history: once, the fate of large ships, factories, and ports was decided on this day; during the full-scale war, people were rescued from missile attacks and the city prepared for life without electricity. For the Korabelnyi District<\/strong>, these events have become part of its own history.<\/p>\n
