In Pivdennoukrainsk<\/strong>, an argument between two<\/strong> acquaintances in a park ended in a stabbing: according to police, a 36-year-old<\/strong> man stabbed his 46-year-old<\/strong> opponent in the stomach. Medical staff notified law enforcement that the victim had been hospitalized on the evening of October 8<\/strong>. The man is currently in hospital recovering from surgery.<\/p>\n

A call to the 102<\/strong> emergency line came in at around 19:45<\/strong>. The victim was taken to hospital from an apartment in a high-rise building. His mother called an ambulance.<\/p>\n

An investigative team from the Department of Police No. 3 of the Voznesensk District Police Department<\/strong>, together with forensic laboratory specialists, established that the man had been injured not in the apartment but in a local park on one<\/strong> of the city\u2019s streets. He had been drinking there with his 36-year-old<\/strong> acquaintance. A verbal argument broke out between the men, during which, according to police, the acquaintance stabbed the victim and then threw away the weapon.<\/p>\n

Officers from the local police department and the regional police headquarters identified the suspect\u2019s whereabouts and found the knife. They were assisted by analysts from the Criminal Analysis Department<\/strong>. Forensic specialists seized the evidence and sent it for expert examination.<\/p>\n

Investigators arrested the man under Article 208<\/strong> of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. With the prosecutor\u2019s approval, he was notified that he was suspected of committing an intentional grievous bodily injury offence under Part 1<\/strong> of Article 121<\/strong> of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. The suspect faces up to 8 years<\/strong> in prison.<\/p>\n

The court will decide on a preventive measure for the man in the near future. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
