In the Mykolaiv region<\/strong>, an indictment has been filed in court against a 15-year-old<\/strong> boy in a case involving the serious injury of a girl his age at a beach in Pervomaisk<\/strong>. According to the Pervomaisk District Police Department<\/strong>, investigators sent the indictment to the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor\u2019s Office<\/strong> based on the evidence gathered, and the prosecutor\u2019s office then referred it to court for consideration on the merits.<\/p>\n

The incident took place on August 9<\/strong> at one of the beaches in Pervomaisk<\/strong>. According to police, the teenager took an air pistol with him to the beach, fired several shots, and hit his 15-year-old<\/strong> acquaintance in the eye<\/a>. We reported on the incident earlier.<\/p>\n

Afterward, the boy threw the pistol into some bushes. Police found the weapon and seized it as evidence.<\/p>\n

Investigators subsequently detained the minor in accordance with procedural requirements and notified him that he was suspected of committing an offense under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong> \u2014 intentional grievous bodily harm. The court imposed a preventive measure of round-the-clock house arrest.<\/p>\n

The teenager faces up to eight years<\/strong> in prison for causing grievous bodily harm. The court will decide on the charges and the boy\u2019s further fate.<\/p>\n

Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine<\/strong> guarantees the presumption of innocence: until a person\u2019s guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court\u2019s guilty verdict, that person is presumed innocent and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment.<\/p>\n
