According to the police, a <strong>57-year-old<\/strong> man, at the wheel of an acquaintance&#8217;s car, hit a <strong>53-year-old<\/strong> local resident and fled. The woman died at the scene from her injuries. The indictment has already been sent to court.<\/p>\n<p>At around <strong>5:00 a.m. on August 21<\/strong>, the emergency number <strong>102<\/strong> received a report: on the road between the villages of <strong>Horokhivske<\/strong> and <strong>Vynohradne<\/strong> a woman was lying with no signs of life, and nearby \u2014 a damaged bicycle.<\/p>\n<p>At the scene were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>investigators from the <strong>investigative department of the regional police headquarters<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>forensic laboratory specialists;<\/li>\n<li>operatives of the <strong>criminal investigation department<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>police officers of the local investigative-operational group;<\/li>\n<li>a forensic medical expert.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the examination, physical evidence was collected and seized, and the identity of the deceased was established \u2014 a <strong>53-year-old<\/strong> resident of the community. The expert concluded that the nature of the injuries on her body indicated a road traffic accident.<\/p>\n<p>Joining the search for the vehicle and the driver were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>operatives and analysts from the <strong>criminal investigation and criminal analysis departments of the regional police headquarters<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>law enforcement officers of the local police department;<\/li>\n<li>police community officers of <strong>Bashtanka district<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Police questioned residents of nearby settlements, looking for possible witnesses, the vehicle, and the driver who left the scene of the accident.<\/p>\n<p>The next day, an officer of the <strong>Snihurivka community<\/strong>, while on patrol, noticed a parked <strong>VAZ-2106<\/strong> on a street in the district center. Its bumper had marks characteristic of a road traffic accident.<\/p>\n<p>The police established that that day the car owner had been drinking with his <strong>57-year-old<\/strong> acquaintance, and then went to rest. The acquaintance took advantage of this and took the car for a drive. According to the circumstances established by the investigation, between settlements he ran over the cyclist, left the scene of the accident, and returned the car to the owner&#8217;s yard.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators from the <strong>department for investigating transport-related crimes of the investigative department of the regional police headquarters<\/strong> conducted a procedural experiment and ordered a number of expert examinations. Procedural guidance was provided by the <strong>Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor&#8217;s Office<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After receiving the expert conclusions, a <strong>57-year-old<\/strong> man was notified of suspicion under <strong>Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. This concerns the violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by a person driving a vehicle that caused the death of the victim.<\/p>\n<p>Having completed the pre-trial investigation on the basis of the collected evidence, investigators sent the indictment to the <strong>Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor&#8217;s Office<\/strong>. The prosecutor&#8217;s office forwarded it to the court for substantive consideration.<\/p>\n<p>The court will decide on the accused.
