October 4<\/strong> left very different traces in the history of Mykolaiv<\/strong>: on that day one of the most famous ships built by Mykolaiv shipbuilders received a new name, workers at the “Okean” shipyard were waiting for earned wages after a strike, the city was losing its defenders, and the Korabelnyi district finally got a trolleybus.<\/p>\n

October 4, 1990<\/strong>: the Mykolaiv aircraft-carrying cruiser was given the name “Admiral Kuznetsov”<\/h2>\n

The heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser, built at the Black Sea Shipyard in Mykolaiv<\/strong> and known at that time as “Tbilisi”, was renamed<\/a> to “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov”. The ship was laid down in 1982<\/strong>, and by the time of the renaming it was already undergoing flight-design and state trials.<\/p>\n

October 4, 2012<\/strong>: at “Okean” they still hadn’t received new payments<\/h2>\n

At the “Okean” shipbuilding plant in the Korabelnyi district, after the September strike and the shift of part of the enterprise to a three-day workweek, the situation remained tense. Korabelov.info wrote<\/a> that as of October 4, 2012<\/strong> employees had not received new payments, and the promised collective appeal to the head of the regional state administration had not been officially registered.<\/p>\n

October 4, 2014<\/strong>: Mykolaiv 79th Brigade officer Yevhen Piven was killed<\/h2>\n

During the defense of Donetsk Airport died<\/a> Yevhen Oleksiyovych Piven<\/strong> \u2014 an officer of the 79th Separate Airmobile Brigade<\/strong>, who had served in the Mykolaiv unit since 1994<\/strong>. On the night of October 4, 2014<\/strong> he stayed to cover the withdrawal of his comrades and was fatally wounded by a grenade explosion. The defender was buried in Mykolaiv<\/strong>, in Velyka Korenytsia.<\/p>\n

October 4, 2023<\/strong>: a serviceman wounded during the strike on the Kulbakine airfield died<\/h2>\n

In a hospital in Kyiv<\/strong> died<\/a> 27-year-old Serhii Mykolayovych Filonenko<\/strong>, a serviceman of the 15th Transport Aviation Brigade<\/strong>. He suffered severe burns and shrapnel wounds on September 29, 2023<\/strong> during a Russian missile strike while performing a combat mission at the Kulbakine airfield in Mykolaiv<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

October 4, 2024<\/strong>: after more than 30 years<\/strong> of waiting, Korabelnyi finally received a trolleybus<\/h2>\n

In Mykolaiv<\/strong> they launched<\/a> trolleybus route No. 10<\/strong> to the Korabelnyi district. It connected the “Mykolaiv-Pasazhyrskyi” railway station via Prospekt Myru, Kosmonavtiv Street and Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue with the terminus on Aivazovskogo Street. For the district this was truly a historic event: talks about trolleybus service there had gone on for more than 30 years<\/strong>, but it was possible to implement it only thanks to vehicles with autonomous operation.<\/p>\n

October 4, 1957<\/strong> the “Sputnik-1” \u2014 the first artificial satellite of the Earth \u2014 was launched<\/a> into space. This event is considered the beginning of the space age. That is why the UN observes<\/a> World Space Week from October 4 to 10<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

That was October 4<\/strong> for Mykolaiv<\/strong> and the Korabelnyi district: Mykolaiv shipbuilders built unique ships, “Okean” went through hard times, the city lost soldiers, and decades later one of the long-standing transport promises for Korabelnyi finally became reality.<\/p>\n
