In Voznesensk<\/strong> a court found a woman guilty of beating her three-year-old<\/strong> granddaughter in a supermarket. The incident was recorded by surveillance cameras, and the video released on social media caused significant public outcry. The verdict of the Voznesensk City District Court of Mykolaiv Oblast<\/strong> was published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on July 23<\/strong> in the sales area of the \u201cTRASH\u201d<\/strong> store on Kyivska<\/strong> Street. During the conflict the grandmother struck the girl on the buttocks with her palm four times<\/strong>, and then three<\/strong> more times on the face.<\/p>\n

In court the woman fully admitted her guilt and expressed remorse. She explained her actions by saying that the child systematically disobeyed her, which caused her to lose her temper.<\/p>\n

The examination did not find any bodily injuries on the girl. At the same time, the court concluded that the blows caused the child physical pain.<\/p>\n

The woman was found guilty under Part 1<\/strong> of Article 126<\/strong> of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong>. Her actions were qualified as intentional infliction of blows, battery, or other violent acts that caused physical pain but did not result in bodily injuries. The punishment was a fine in the amount of 850 hryvnias<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

After the incident local residents circulated the video from the store, trying to identify the woman and bring her to justice. After the publicity, workers of the child protection service<\/strong> and law enforcement became involved.<\/p>\n

That same evening at around 23:00<\/strong> they went to the child’s place of residence. The girl was removed from the family<\/strong> and temporarily placed in a safe location.<\/p>\n

It turned out that the girl’s mother was abroad, and the child had been under her grandmother’s care. After the incident the mother returned promptly, and after a conversation social workers handed the child back to her.<\/p>\n
