During the full-scale war, on this day a Russian FPV drone attacked a civilian car in the Mykolaiv region.<\/p>\n

September 24, 1739<\/strong>: the birth of Grigory Potemkin, whose name is linked to the founding of Mykolaiv<\/h2>\n

Grigory Aleksandrovich Potemkin<\/strong> was born on September 13, 1739<\/strong> in the Julian calendar, which corresponds to September 24<\/strong> in the modern Gregorian calendar. The State Archive of Mykolaiv Oblast notes<\/a> that the history of the founding of Mykolaiv<\/strong> is closely connected with Potemkin: on November 10, 1789<\/strong> he reported the chosen site for building a shipyard at the mouth of the Inhul into the Southern Bug and proposed the name Mykolaiv<\/strong> for the new town.<\/p>\n

September 24, 2004<\/strong>: a monument to Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi was unveiled in Mykolaiv<\/h2>\n

A monument to the prominent Ukrainian educator Vasyl Oleksandrovych Sukhomlynskyi<\/strong> was solemnly unveiled by the main entrance of the then Mykolaiv State University. As the Mykolaiv Regional Children’s Library recorded<\/a>, the Teacher’s bust was placed against the backdrop of an open book with the words “I give my heart to children”.<\/p>\n

September 24, 2014<\/strong>: Mykolaiv native Mykhailo Kozlov died in Donetsk region<\/h2>\n

While carrying out a combat mission near Starohnativka in Donetsk region, native of Mykolaiv<\/strong> Mykhailo Vitaliyovych Kozlov<\/strong> \u2014 senior gunner of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade<\/strong> \u2014 was killed. The Book of Remembrance reports<\/a> that at about 18:35<\/strong> the serviceman received fatal wounds due to the detonation of an explosive device. In the morning a mass brawl broke out in the night club “Diskus”, which operated in the former Metallurgists’ Palace of Culture in the Korabelnyi District of Mykolaiv<\/strong>. “Korabeliv.Info” published<\/a> footage from surveillance cameras: among the injured were 31-year-old Ihor Kochniev<\/strong>, an ATO participant and former “cyborg”, and his friend Vyacheslav Barba<\/strong>. More than 3 years<\/strong> later the outlet reported<\/a> that the case against 6 defendants<\/strong> had already been assigned to a third judge, and after the preliminary hearing the proceedings had not progressed for a long time.<\/p>\n

September 24, 2024<\/strong>: Russian FPV struck a civilian car<\/h2>\n

At about 14:25<\/strong> a Russian FPV drone attacked a passenger car in the Kutsurub community of Mykolaiv region. As “Korabeliv.Info” wrote<\/a>, 2 people<\/strong> were injured: the driver received assistance on site, and the 63-year-old<\/strong> passenger was hospitalized in a stable condition of moderate severity.<\/p>\n
