The tariff for wastewater disposal for residents of Mykolaiv<\/strong> will increase by 24 hryvnias<\/strong> from October 1<\/strong> \u2014 to 41.25 hryvnias per cubic meter<\/strong>. The executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council<\/strong> adopted the corresponding decision today, September 23<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Currently residents pay 16.51 hryvnias per cubic meter<\/strong> for wastewater disposal, tax included. KP “Mykolaivvodokanal”<\/strong> proposed setting the tariff at 41.256 hryvnias per cubic meter<\/strong>, tax included.<\/p>\n

The head of the tariffs and pricing policy department of the Department of Strategic Development and Investments of the Mykolaiv City Council, Olena Bolychevska<\/strong>, explained that the tariff change is intended to improve the enterprise’s financial position.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch changes will help eliminate losses of almost 48 million<\/strong>, if a decision to increase is adopted. At the moment, over the eight months<\/strong> of the current year, the enterprise has almost 360 million<\/strong> in losses while operating under the old tariffs,\u201d \u2014 said Olena Bolychevska<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

During the meeting, the mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych<\/strong> asked when the wastewater fee was last reviewed in the city. According to Olena Bolychevska<\/strong>, it was in 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring that time, as you know, the dollar has doubled in value, inflation has risen, the minimum wage has increased. We have deliberately not raised the water supply tariff. It remains at the level of 2019<\/strong>,\u201d \u2014 said Oleksandr Sienkevych<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The mayor also reported that more than 50 million hryvnias<\/strong> are allocated each month from the city budget to support KP “Mykolaivvodokanal”<\/strong>. He said these funds have to be allocated instead of financing salaries, utility expenses and current repairs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this life nothing is free. Today we subsidize from the budget \u2014 instead of paying salaries, utilities and carrying out current repairs, we allocate money to the water utility to eliminate this financial gap, taking into account the fact that the water utility pays market prices for the electricity it purchases on the market, salaries at the level not of 2019<\/strong>, but 2026<\/strong>. The amount of subsidies reaches 50 million hryvnias per month<\/strong>. Today we are simply drowning and must at least change the tariff for wastewater disposal,\u201d \u2014 said Oleksandr Sienkevych<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to the mayor, the new tariff was agreed with the national pricing regulator<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we can calmly say that they are neither overpriced nor underpriced,\u201d \u2014 added Oleksandr Sienkevych<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In January 2026<\/strong>, the mayor already stated that the current water fee for residents does not cover the operating costs of KP “Mykolaivvodokanal”<\/strong>. Because of this, the enterprise, he said, cannot operate and develop fully.<\/p>\n
