They are planned to replenish the fleet of <strong>Ukrzaliznytsia<\/strong>, which suffered significant losses due to Russian attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Agreements were reached during the <strong>&#8220;Carpathian Eight&#8221;<\/strong> summit, the <strong>Ministry of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine<\/strong> reported. Financing is to be provided through the <strong>URTF<\/strong> trust fund as part of the <strong>RELINC<\/strong> project, implemented jointly with the <strong>International Bank for Reconstruction and Development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Since the start of the full-scale invasion, <strong>533<\/strong> <strong>Ukrzaliznytsia<\/strong> locomotives have been damaged. Private industrial companies also suffered losses \u2014 another <strong>75<\/strong> of their locomotives were damaged. As a result, the railways need to both repair rolling stock and increase the locomotive fleet.<\/p>\n<p>Separate assistance will be provided by <strong>Slovakia<\/strong>, which agreed to transfer <strong>3 electric locomotives<\/strong> to <strong>Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At the summit they also reached a principled agreement with the <strong>European Bank for Reconstruction and Development<\/strong> on allocating <strong>\u20ac130 million<\/strong>. The funds are to be used for critical needs and to strengthen the energy resilience of <strong>Ukrzaliznytsia<\/strong>. The relevant agreements are planned to be signed <strong>by the end of September<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry stressed that international support should ensure not only the restoration of damaged rolling stock.
