In Mykolaiv<\/strong>, a heated discussion has ignited on social media over frequent air raid and “all clear” signals. After a comment<\/a> from 21 September 2026<\/strong> by reader Iryna Rymar<\/strong> on the Facebook page of the Contact Center at the Mykolaiv City Council:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is the point of endless sirens for alarm and especially for all clear if there are no shelters anyway? The sirens sound very loud both day and night. In Lisky you can hear three sirens at the same time. People who live near the boiler house on Kurortna are going crazy from the endless wailing. What is the point of this? Where are we supposed to hide? Those worried about the danger have installed an app. Maybe it is worth conducting a survey about its feasibility? Or at least remove the all-clear siren,\u201d wrote Iryna Rymar.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Some residents complain that repeated sounding of sirens, especially at night, is psychologically exhausting, while accessible shelters nearby are often absent. Others remind that sound alerts remain important for children, the elderly and those who do not use smartphones.<\/p>\n

\n

“In 15 hours there were 11 alarms and 11 all-clears!!! Something is buzzing every half hour!!! No psyche can withstand this!!!” – wrote Nadiya Steblovska. <\/em><\/p>\n

“And Korablenyi is just horrible,” – pointed out Elena Potybenko<\/strong> about the situation in the Korablenyi district of Mykolaiv<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, it’s like that all over the city \ud83d\ude22\ud83d\ude22\ud83d\ude22”, – Elena Belostotskaya<\/strong> believes the problem is not limited to a single district.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Elena Pugach<\/strong>, who lives in the city center on Sadova, emphasized not only the loud sirens but also the problem of shelter availability:<\/p>\n

“I support this! I live in the center, Sadova, 2<\/strong>, next to the ‘Heart of the City’ park, children have been playing in the fountains all summer… The sirens scream, but in fact there are no shelters anywhere near. I raised this issue in 2024<\/strong> and in 2025<\/strong> – the city executive committee replied that in the old center many do not have shelters. Did it get easier? And on the map – shelters in the court and in the technical college, but only for employees. From ‘Metro’ they first sent people to the Zoo shelter, then to the chess club…”, wrote Elena.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At the same time Elena Kucher<\/strong> opposed the idea of removing sirens, stressing that not all people can receive warnings via phone.<\/p>\n

“And this is written by someone in the fifth year of the war. Remove the sirens… Children went to school, walk the streets and do not have or do not hear the app, as do elderly people. And it wails for everyone and everywhere. We are at war,” wrote Elena. <\/em><\/p>\n

“As for me, it would be better if the alarm for Mykolaiv and Mykolaiv district were given separately. In 70 percent of cases the Shahed drones come in through Rybakivka\/Koblevo and turn toward Odesa\/Pivdenne\/Chornomorsk. What use is it for the regional center to sit and wait for all-clears,” proposed Zoryana Tarasyuta.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A similar opinion was expressed by Natalya Pecherytsia<\/strong>, who believes that residents are unlikely to expect quick changes:<\/p>\n

“I support, but nobody will do anything. They’ve already signed off that they have nothing to do with it. It’s the laws and the plant set it up that way, and they have no right to make it louder or quieter. Mockery of people. They nicely sent us away and that’s it…”, commented Natalya.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I support. The Teachers’ House, Tsentralnyi Avenue. It’s just horror, no nerves can stand it. In all 4.5 years we never went down because there is nowhere to go. This is yet another mockery of people,” wrote Tatyana Kapitonova about the situation near the Teachers’ House.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

However, the fact remains that for some people the siren remains practically the only way to receive information.<\/p>\n

“People, understand that not everyone has an ‘app’, some don’t even have internet, because their phone is a feature phone. How without an ‘all-clear’ signal?”, reminded Nataliya Zharova<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Tatyana Myata<\/strong>, who lives near the agricultural university, complained primarily about the night signals.<\/p>\n

“I support. This is just torture, especially at night. I live near the agricultural university and want to say the same.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A similar situation in other parts of the city was reported by Lina Mykolaivna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Five-story buildings and Abissinia suffer the same. Where is that safe shelter??? And judging by the materials between alarms, we are supposed to live there.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“No one cares about people. I no longer understand whether it’s alarm or all-clear. Often they are simultaneous. But I understood one thing: write or not, it’s useless. Only the phone saves you, there everything is clear and the sound is what you need”, – wrote Lena Savitskaya.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The discussion is taking place against changes in the alert system. Since 8 September 2026<\/strong> in the Mykolaiv region<\/strong> a differentiated format of air raid alerts has been piloted: the “yellow” level is intended for drone threats, the “red” for missile, missile-drone or mass UAV attacks.<\/p>\n

The shelter problem remains acute. In September the mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych admitted that the number and duration of alerts have increased, and schoolchildren spend significantly more time in protective rooms because of this.<\/p>\n
