September 1<\/strong> at the city cemetery in Vynohradiv, Zakarpattia Oblast<\/strong> two<\/strong> local women, according to investigators, stole flowers from a grave. Both girls were notified of suspicion, the Zakarpattia Oblast Police<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n

Investigators established that the girls approached one<\/strong> of the burials and took fresh flowers and ceremonial floral arrangements. They scattered other plants, and moved ceremonial baskets and the remaining items left by the relatives of the deceased.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary findings by law enforcement, the girls intended to “gift” the flowers stolen from the grave to a teacher. They had long-standing hostile relations with the teacher.<\/p>\n

The actions of the suspects were qualified under Part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong> \u2014 desecration of a grave, another burial place, or a corpse, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.<\/p>\n

The sanction provides for restriction of liberty for a term of 4 to 5 years<\/strong> or imprisonment for a term of 4 to 7 years<\/strong>. Investigative actions in the case are ongoing.<\/p>\n
