The financing will be directed to a battery energy storage systems project.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1648\" data-end=\"1789\">DFC and DTEK reported this on <strong data-start=\"1655\" data-end=\"1679\">16 September <\/strong>2026. The information was also confirmed by the agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/us-dfc-approves-85-million-loan-ukraines-dtek-2026-09-16\/\">Reuters<\/a>. According to the company, this is the <strong data-start=\"1814\" data-end=\"1937\">largest DFC debt deal for Ukraine&#8217;s energy sector since Russia&#8217;s full-scale invasion in 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1978\" data-end=\"2059\">The financing relates to a portfolio of energy storage systems with a total capacity:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2061\" data-end=\"2148\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1l35dt9\" data-start=\"2061\" data-end=\"2086\"><strong data-start=\"2063\" data-end=\"2085\">200 MW capacity<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"fpq8xn\" data-start=\"2087\" data-end=\"2113\"><strong data-start=\"2089\" data-end=\"2112\">400 MWh capacity<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1ybilst\" data-start=\"2114\" data-end=\"2148\"><strong data-start=\"2116\" data-end=\"2147\">six sites in Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2150\" data-end=\"2441\">The systems are already in operation and use technology from the American company <strong data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2248\">Fluence<\/strong>. They can respond to changes in the power grid within milliseconds, helping to regulate frequency, balance fluctuations, and support system stability.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2443\" data-end=\"2620\">According to DFC, the stored energy is enough to power about <strong data-start=\"2532\" data-end=\"2581\">600,000 households for two hours<\/strong>. Reuters specifies that the installations are located, among other places, in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk region. They were developed against the backdrop of systematic Russian attacks on Ukraine&#8217;s energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2842\" data-end=\"3034\">DTEK CEO <strong data-start=\"2868\" data-end=\"2887\">Maksym Tymchenko<\/strong> said the loan will allow the company to direct more of its own capital toward further construction of battery systems and other energy projects.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-light\">\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"3036\" data-end=\"3219\">&#8220;The financial part is very important to me, but far more important is the signal that DFC is ready to support Ukraine and DTEK&#8221;, &#8211; said <strong>Tymchenko<\/strong> to Reuters.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"3221\" data-end=\"3435\">According to him, the American corporation&#8217;s decision can also serve as a signal to other private investors that the risks of operating in Ukraine can be managed even during wartime.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"3437\" data-end=\"3776\">DFC noted that the project should increase the <strong data-start=\"3478\" data-end=\"3533\">resilience and stability of Ukraine&#8217;s power system<\/strong>, which continues to suffer Russian attacks. In addition to the Ukrainian energy project, the corporation&#8217;s board of directors on 16 September approved a total of more than <strong data-start=\"3678\" data-end=\"3706\">$8 billion in new investments<\/strong> in various countries and sectors.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"3778\" data-end=\"4018\">The DTEK battery systems project itself is estimated at roughly <strong data-start=\"3838\" data-end=\"3850\">\u20ac125 million<\/strong>.
