In August 2026<\/strong>, 197<\/strong> children were born in Mykolaiv<\/strong>, while 312<\/strong> people died. Thus, the number of deaths exceeded the number of newborns by 115<\/strong>. Demographic and registration figures were announced during a staff meeting at the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The head of the City Health Department<\/strong>, Iryna Shamray<\/strong>, said that among those born in August<\/strong> were 109<\/strong> boys and 88<\/strong> girls. Also during the month 2<\/strong> sets of twins were born.<\/p>\n

Since the beginning of 2026<\/strong>, a total of 1 354<\/strong> children have been born in the city: 718<\/strong> boys and 636<\/strong> girls. Among the newborns there were 18<\/strong> sets of twins.<\/p>\n

The head of the municipal enterprise \u201cMykolaiv Funeral Service\u201d<\/strong>, Serhiy Vasileha<\/strong>, clarified that during August<\/strong> 149<\/strong> men and 163<\/strong> women died \u2014 312<\/strong> people in total.<\/p>\n

The director of the Department for the Provision of Administrative Services<\/strong>, Vladyslav Belan<\/strong>, reported that last month 1 140<\/strong> residents registered their place of residence in Mykolaiv<\/strong>. At the same time, 1 801<\/strong> people were removed from the register, including 695<\/strong> \u2014 due to death.<\/p>\n

From the beginning of the year until September 1, 2026<\/strong>, 6 414<\/strong> people registered in the city, and 11 368<\/strong> were removed from the register. In 4 255<\/strong> cases the reason for removal from the register was death.<\/p>\n

As of January 1, 2026<\/strong>, Mykolaiv<\/strong> had 391 368<\/strong> registered persons. As of September 1, 2026<\/strong>, their number stood at 388 766<\/strong>, meaning it decreased by more than half a percent<\/strong>. Vladyslav Belan<\/strong> noted that this trend has already become customary.<\/p>\n

Over the year the number of internally displaced persons in Mykolaiv<\/strong> increased by approximately 2.5 thousand<\/strong>. Almost 90%<\/strong> of the displaced people who are currently registering in the city arrive from Kherson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
