It makes it possible to perform prolonged electroencephalography during sleep and will help examine young patients.<\/p>\n<p>Night EEG makes it possible to detect pathological brain activity that may not appear during a short daytime examination. During sleep, brain activity changes, so some disorders, including epileptic activity, become noticeable specifically at this time.<\/p>\n<p>The system records video simultaneously. Thanks to this, doctors can correlate changes on the EEG trace with the patient&#8217;s movements, gestures, or twitches.<\/p>\n<p>Night EEG is used for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>diagnosis and monitoring of epilepsy, including detection of occult and nocturnal epileptic activity;<\/li>\n<li>assessment of the effectiveness of anti-seizure treatment;<\/li>\n<li>differentiation between epileptic and non-epileptic conditions, such as panic attacks, night terrors, syncope, and psychogenic seizures;<\/li>\n<li>diagnosis of complex sleep disorders \u2014 sleepwalking, bruxism, nocturnal enuresis, restless legs syndrome, and periodic limb movements;<\/li>\n<li>examination of children with speech and mental developmental delays, a marked loss of acquired skills, and to exclude occult epileptiform activity in cases of hyperactivity, attention deficit, or autistic features.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A standard daytime EEG usually lasts up to <strong>30 minutes<\/strong>, whereas nighttime monitoring covers <strong>8\u201312 hours<\/strong> and various sleep stages. This increases the likelihood of detecting pathological changes that may remain unnoticed during a short examination.<\/p>\n<p>The new equipment is used for children from <strong>1 month<\/strong> of age.
