Director of the United States Central Intelligence Agency John Ratcliffe<\/strong> could play a significantly larger role in negotiations between the United States<\/strong>, Russia<\/strong> and Ukraine<\/strong>. Washington is considering reducing the involvement of special envoys Steve Witkoff<\/strong> and Jared Kushner<\/strong>, who have so far handled contacts with Moscow<\/strong> and Kyiv<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ratcliffe will take on most of this work while maintaining contacts with the intelligence services of both countries, \u2014 sources told the Financial Times.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This is reported by the Financial Times<\/strong>, citing its own sources. At the same time, the White House<\/strong> and the CIA<\/strong> declined to comment on possible changes, and President Donald Trump<\/strong> has not yet made a final decision.<\/p>\n

Discussions of potential reshuffles, according to the publication, began as early as February<\/strong>. This followed the failure of previous attempts to reach a peace agreement, when the Trump<\/strong> administration shifted its main focus to the war in Iran<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Steve Witkoff<\/strong>, who is described as a close friend of Trump<\/strong>, will most likely retain the status of special envoy for peace missions. He will continue working on Middle East<\/strong> issues and will also remain partly involved in the Ukrainian direction.<\/p>\n

At the same time, a struggle for influence and control over key areas of work continues between Witkoff<\/strong> and Ratcliffe<\/strong>. In Ukraine<\/strong> they believe that Witkoff<\/strong> did not put enough pressure on Vladimir Putin<\/strong>. In Moscow<\/strong>, by contrast, he is blamed for the failure of the Trump<\/strong>\u2013Putin<\/strong> summit in Alaska<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to Financial Times<\/strong> sources, the Kremlin<\/strong> does not rule out that the US<\/strong> may apply a new approach to the negotiations.<\/p>\n
