In Mykolaiv<\/strong>, the head of one<\/strong> of the municipal medical institutions sold to a private company more than 2,000<\/strong> doses of freshly frozen plasma, registering it as unfit for clinical use. In fact, the plasma had been collected less than 12 months<\/strong> before the sale. As a result, the municipal enterprise suffered losses of more than 2.2 million hryvnias<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the official knew that the necessary quantity of plasma obtained from a unit of whole blood and declared unfit for clinical use for the benefit of others did not exist. At the same time, he concluded a contract and ensured the formation of a batch from another blood component for further supply.<\/p>\n

The batch included and was shipped to the private company more than 2,000<\/strong> doses with a total volume of more than 661 liters<\/strong>. It was sold at the price provided for plasma that had already become unfit after the expiration of the established shelf life, although in fact less than 12 months<\/strong> had passed since collection.<\/p>\n

The illegal actions of the head were exposed by investigators of the Mykolaiv District Police Department<\/strong> with operational support from officers of the regional department of the Security Service of Ukraine<\/strong> and procedural supervision by the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During sanctioned searches at the official\u2019s workplace and place of residence, police seized equipment, administrative documentation and other material evidence.<\/p>\n

Investigators notified the suspect of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine<\/strong> \u2014 for embezzlement of another\u2019s property by abusing official position, committed under martial law and on a particularly large scale.<\/p>\n

The suspect faces up to 12 years<\/strong> of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years<\/strong>, as well as confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation continues.<\/p>\n
