5 September<\/strong> left in the history of Mykolaiv<\/strong> the first ship of the local shipyard, the fate of a well-known educator, a worrying story with pupils of the Korabelnyi District<\/strong>, an electoral \u201ccut\u201d, a Russian missile strike and the victory of Mykolaiv\u2019s para-fencers.<\/p>\n

5 September 1790<\/strong>: the first ship was launched in Mykolaiv<\/h2>\n

25 August 1790<\/strong> by the Julian calendar, or 5 September 1790<\/strong> by the modern Gregorian calendar, the 44-gun<\/strong> frigate “St. Nicholas” was launched at the Mykolaiv Admiralty shipyard \u2014 the first ship built in Mykolaiv<\/strong>. As earlier reported<\/a> by “\u041a\u043e\u0440\u0430\u0431\u0435\u043b\u0456\u0432.\u0406\u043d\u0444\u043e”, the vessel was built under the direction of shipwright master Oleksandr Petrovych Sokolov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5 September 1891<\/strong>: educator Adrian Toporov was born<\/h2>\n

In the village of Stoilo in the Kursk Governorate, the writer, teacher and educator Adrian Mitrofanovych Toporov<\/strong> was born. He lived in Mykolaiv<\/strong> for 35 years<\/strong>, wrote several books, continued his pedagogical and public work, and in 2000<\/strong> the townspeople named him one of the 10<\/strong> most notable Mykolaiv residents of the 20th century<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5 September 2019<\/strong>: a worrying incident began with pupils of School No. 48<\/h2>\n

In the evening a pupil of School No.48<\/strong> in the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> was admitted to the infectious diseases hospital with signs of an acute intestinal illness. Later “\u041a\u043e\u0440\u0430\u0431\u0435\u043b\u0456\u0432.\u0406\u043d\u0444\u043e” reported<\/a> that as of 13 September<\/strong> at least 11 younger pupils<\/strong> had been treated in the infectious diseases ward; parents spoke of a much larger number of children with symptoms, but the official cause of the outbreak was not publicly announced.<\/p>\n

5 September 2020<\/strong>: Korabelnyi District was left with one electoral constituency<\/h2>\n

The Mykolaiv City Election Commission divided<\/a> the city\u2019s 207 polling stations<\/strong> into 7 territorial constituencies<\/strong>: the Central, Zavodskyi and Inhulskyi districts received 2 constituencies<\/strong> each, while the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> received one. At that time the district had 64,279 voters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5 September 2022<\/strong>: Russians struck an enterprise with S-300 missiles<\/h2>\n

Around 00:30<\/strong> Russian forces attacked Mykolaiv<\/strong> with S-300 missiles. Impacts were recorded on the territory of an industrial enterprise on the outskirts of the city; according to preliminary information, there were no fatalities or injuries.<\/p>\n

5 September 2025<\/strong>: Mykolaiv para-fencers became world champions<\/h2>\n

The Ukrainian men\u2019s team won “gold” in the team \u00e9p\u00e9e at the World Championship in the city of Iksan<\/strong> in the Republic of Korea. The championship quartet included representatives of the Mykolaiv region: Oleg Serhiyovych Naumenko<\/strong> and Oleksiy Mykolayovych Zakusylov<\/strong>, as well as Artem Ihorovych Manko<\/strong> and Eduard Ivanovych Kudenko<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5 September 1977<\/strong>: Voyager 1 was launched<\/h3>\n

NASA launched the spacecraft “Voyager 1” to study Jupiter and Saturn. In 2012<\/strong> it crossed the heliosphere boundary and became the first human-made object in interstellar space.<\/p>\n

5 September 2014<\/strong>: the first Minsk Protocol on a ceasefire was signed<\/h3>\n

Representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE signed the Minsk Protocol, which envisaged a ceasefire and political settlement of the war in Donbas. The agreements did not stop Russian aggression, and fighting soon resumed.<\/p>\n

That was 5 September<\/strong>: from the first ship at the Mykolaiv shipyard to the global “gold” of fellow citizens, and in between \u2014 events that remind of both the problems of the Korabelnyi District<\/strong> and the years of the Russian war.<\/p>\n
